Failures haunting my perceptions of self
deflecting real purpose, my life in the rough
trying to explain, leaving me empty
One thousand excuses are never enough.
Harshest words inflicting wounds to their hearts
selfish indifference corrupting my soul,
drowning in pain as connection is lost
One thousand tears never making me whole.
Sweat of my brow, falling useless to ground
my good intentions will not set me free,
sacrifice of service left on the altar
One thousand good works done, not saving me.
Scarlet stain of my sin causing distress
connection with Yahweh it does impede
needing a cleansing from my filthy rags
One death on a cross is all that I need…
Seeking His Kingdom to reign in my life
more of His wisdom, for this do I pray
delighting in favor bestowed unto me
One thousand reasons to sing every day.
Songs of my heart given over to Thee
all of God's wonder I need to explore,
saturating my life in all of His grace
One thousand praises, He is worthy of more!
1 Peter 3:18 NLT Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God.
