Richness of a sunburnt plain
hidden in its beauty scarred,
beyond the reach of simple gain
found in dreams that can't be charred.
Heat shimmers; life can be hard
shadows cast disrupt the view,
drought delivers the harshest card
clouding the days, I once knew.
Heaviness of heart greets each day
crusty and dry with wounds still raw,
landscape of vastness, I survey
still on Your grace, I stand in awe!
Freshness discovered not in rain
but in a cross with blood and gore,
crushing hurt and dust may still remain
still in Your love, I stand in awe!
Richness of a Saviour's reign
revealed in His beauty scarred,
beyond the reach of simple gain
found in mercy that can't be marred…
As one forgiven, I stand in awe!
Note: A poem reflecting on the droughts I experienced in the Central West Plains. Despite the harshness of the situation, we still have God's grace and forgiveness!
